Case study | Industrial steel
Heavy steel support structures with fabrication-ready detail.
Member design, connections, and construction documentation.
My early structural design work included industrial steel framing and connection design for heavy process structures. The role required code-based member sizing, connection checks, base and anchorage detailing, and coordination with fabrication models and drawings.
A representative assignment involved steel support structures for plate-blending silos associated with Reliance Industries work in Jamnagar. The support system carried approximately 640 tons per silo, so design clarity, load transfer, and connection reliability were central to the work.
- Designed support framing, steel members, bracing, plates, welds, bolts, and anchorage details.
- Applied AISC/LRFD and BS 5950 design logic in industrial steel contexts.
- Prepared and reviewed fabrication-oriented documentation using Tekla and connection-checking tools.
- Coordinated calculations with drawings so detailers and site teams could act confidently.
